Too many missing parts
ComplexShawl089· Review provided by LEGO · March 4, 2023
Too many missing parts. It’s a fun item and I would love to do this with my son or my grandson again, but the fact that too many parts are missing, is absolutely ridiculous. In each and every bag there has been at least one or two missing parts. Several of which have been found in a different bag, but a young person shouldn’t be expected or possibly know to do this. Having to glue parts together in order for them to hold into place is ridiculous. If they’re going to recommend glue to hold the parts together then they should include it in the packaging .

Having missing parts prevents you from moving forward on the project. Certainly you can order them, but then what happens when you get those two pieces and you’re able to move forward on the project and then realize you need two more pieces? Exactly why every single part of the parts are listed in the back of the book….right next to a bold customer service number ….because they know there are parts missing ….and that’s ridiculous.
Excellent set let down by one tiny detail

I ordered this set with some Christmas money in December but it was on backorder.
It arrived yesterday and I built it over 2 sessions.

Firstly, the set is a very good representation of the 911, it very nearly captures all the lines of the iconic car, another major plus is that there are no stickers, everything is printed.
I know I'm not alone when I say that I HATE stickers!

The build itself is pretty straightforward, no real tricky parts, although there is a mistake in the instructions on page 195 in the placement of the printed window piece.

There are only 2 things that let this set down in my opinion, the first is the rear light cluster. It is mostly made up of solid colours rather than translucent pieces. I can forgive the centre part but the indicators really should be translucent and the solid orange really lets the set down.
The second is not specific to this set, more a general Creator Expert vehicle issue, there really needs to be some bigger wheels with lower profile tyres at this scale, especially for sports car sets.

That being said, I have nearly all of the Creator Expert vehicles and with the exception of Ecto1, I think this one may be my favourite.
Almost perfect

A few things are "off" about this set. First, I'll start with the hood of the car. We should have gotten 2 of the #33909 pieces instead of regular white 2x2 plates. There are too many studs on the hood and it doesn't look good - it looks very very unfinished, especially for the piece count. Second, the back window stickers are TOO LARGE - EVEN FOR ADULTS. They are difficult to line up properly and we're left with this white line down the middle of what should be a window. Third, the overall look of this car is deceiving in the pictures. It looks to be very round in shape but it actually comes off as very long. The distance from the front and back wheels are "off" for this car, as Porsche 911s are zippy and not at all like straight-line drivers like the Camaro (a surprisingly good set by direct comparison). This could have been disguised by giving us a rounder windshield maybe, not one that is so rectangular. Fourth, the cones/pylons. Why include only 3, why not 4? Why include them at all (a 2-piece build)? A waste of pieces if you ask me. Also, the inclusion of a helmet should warrant an actual racing suit because no racer drives in a bothersome tight leather jacket. On a positive note, I enjoyed building this without the usual boring chassis.
Unrealistic All Over

This set spells D-I-S-S-A-P-O-I-N-T-M-E-N-T. There is really only one big and one small pro about it: there is a good imitation of a seat in the cabin, and when you drive it into a wall at high speed the windshield falls off and the minifigure is ejected 6 inches into the air. I never get tired of slamming my 911 into walls. Other than that, this set is pretty awful. It is covered in uncovered studs and pieces that make the bodywork look careless. The wheels are my biggest compliant: They are connected to the body with 8 stud long Technic axles, so the model cannot turn. The wheels themselves are even worse because The rims stick out way, way too far and the wheels are not spoked like the real cars wheels. We are in need of standard Speed Champions wheels here. The spoiler is too fat and the interior rear slope of the cabin is bumpy and crude, also.

I could go on much longer listing cons of this set, but to make this review reasonable I will not. Instead, I will stop typing and shut up in just a few seconds.

If you care about good looking or realistic Speed Champions sets, do not buy this set but buy the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Race Car or the Nissan GT-R NISMO. If you are a fan of ejector seats, this set and the Creator Expert James Bond Aston Martin DB5 are for you.
