Needed more
Honest· Review provided by LEGO · March 9, 2024
Most of the build was straight forward but there are a few points where it lacked. The sticker situation on the sidepods was frustrating. The colours between two pieces don't flow and needed printed bricks instead. The build itself is flimsy and not for play, especially behind the front wheels and behind the halo, therefore playability suffers for the youngsters. About the halo, the minifigure's head pokes out over the halo, which defeats the purpose of the device in real life and makes the car look tiny. The hands have to be well positioned to be able to even hover over the steeing wheel. The steering wheel also says the car is in 2nd gear. Why not a much higher gear? Speaking of tiny, it's not worth the $35 (CAD) for the size of the build. Not worth the amount of pieces and size of the car. Also, ditch the wrench for F1 cars, it makes no sense. The tires were interesting though, as they are very grippy, nice job here. Overall, it needed to bigger for the money. For display purposes I have to take the driver out to make it look good. As a Lego fan, I'm not happy about the price increase, especially since so many annoying stickers (advertising!!!) are being used. Make the advertisers foot the bill, not the customer.
Beautiful

The build was quick with a decent amount of fun building techniques. Looks amazing with all the details, ratio and likeness to the real thing.

Lego even managed to include most if not all the sponsors (OKX bitcoin on an official Lego set?!). The details on the printed wheels are a huge plus as well.

Playability is there as well. Some parts may not the most sturdy (block with "Dewalt" behind the front wheels), but are in places that rarely interfere when rolling the set. (FYI, It rolls very well and smooth)

The set is not without downsides. The number of stickers can be overwhelming. Also, the orange paint on the printed nose piece bleeds black.
And Lego, please make the rear wheels larger for all your F1 sets.

All in all, extremely satisfied with the set.

(tip: place the sticker on the tip of an exacto knife and the lego piece on the brick separator and use the handle part of the separate like an extension of the lego piece)
Nice set for a McLaren Formula One Fan

Got this set to go along with my Lego Technic 2022 McLaren Formula One Car & Ayrton Senna's Championship winning MP4/4.

The build process was straight forward and had this set built in no time.
Lego's attention to detail, as usual, was top notch. All the sponsors were there, even down to the Pirelli & google branding on the tires.

The only downside to this set is the amount of stickers.
While the stickers added to the set in that they had all the sponsors on there, I thought the amount of stickers was obscenely excessive for a set of this size.
I would have paid more for printed parts and less stickers.

Overall this set would make a great addition to any McLaren Formula One fan's collection.
An excellent set but time for a change?

As the title says, this is an excellent set. The building techniques are interesting and unique, with a wide range of pieces and useages which were new to me. As you would expect from a race car, there are many stickers which add to the detail. While I had no challenge with these, one miss-placed sticker could detract from a set. Is it time we changed to have an additional sticker sheet in these sets? It would be inexpensive, and add greatly to these sets where stickers add so much detail, and are almost a necessity to the display. This would be the greatest improvement for these sets. The set itself remains an excellent design, and worth the money for any enthusiast.
